Millenium Centre

Millenium Centre

Client: Wales Millenium Centre
Architect: Capita Percy Thomas
Main Contractor: Sir Robert McAlpine
Subcontractors: GHT Plastering Services Ltd

Apertura perforated plasterboard was given a key role at the Wales Millennium Centre after architects Capita Percy Thomas selected it as the ceiling finish in the principal public areas of the building.

The 31,500m2 centre is an acclaimed performing arts complex on Cardiff Bay’s waterfront. It boasts two theatres, two dance studios, residential accommodation, recording studios, shops, cafes and restaurants and function rooms. The main contractor was Sir Robert McAlpine. Bristol-based subcontractors GHT Plastering Services Ltd installed 2,000m2 of Apertura circular 8/18 plasterboard in the 10-13m high ceilings of the centre’s north and south concourses. These have restaurants, shops and theatre entrances. They provide meeting places where visitors can watch impromptu free music and drama performances and enjoy the arts in a relaxed, informal setting.
