Village Hotel
Client: De Vere Group Knauf Drywall supplied partitioning throughout the project, with three main board types used: Knauf Wallboard for general walls and ceilings, Knauf Soundshield for areas requiring higher acoustic performance, and Knauf Moistureshield for “wet” areas.
Main Contractor: Wallis
Subcontractor: Boler & Clarke
The De Vere Group’s £17 million Village Maidstone is part of a growing national chain of conference venues and weekend getaway hotels. In addition to conventional hotel facilities and 122 en-suite bedrooms, Village Maidstone has an extensive leisure club with 25 m swimming pool, sauna, steam room, fitness studio, aerobics suite, ladies’ gym and café.
The hotel was built largely by local firms, with Kent-based Wallis – part of Kier Regional – as main contractor on the 14-month project. Commercial interiors firm Boler & Clarke, from nearby Strood, was the drywall subcontractor.
Trevor Boughen, senior site surveyor for Wallis, says: “Knauf Drywall’s comprehensive technical support helped drywall installers to deal quickly with issues of detail and regulation.“
