Knauf Drywall at Ecobuild 2011
Product and partners were the key themes of Knauf Drywall’s presence at Ecobuild 2011 as it displayed a selection of its market-leading lightweight building products and systems; while playing host to an exciting new Knauf division – Knauf Facades.
There were four main Knauf Drywall ranges on show this year: Aquapanel, Safeboard, Thermal Laminate and Brio. Aquapanel is the ideal tile backing system for wet and humid areas. It is exceptionally tough and durable, providing a solid tile backing substrate for wet indoor areas such as swimming pools, leisure centres, changing rooms, toilet areas, laundries, bathrooms and kitchens.
Knauf Safeboard brings X-Ray protection and fire and acoustic performance together in one easy-to-install board. Safeboard is simple to fix and cuts and snaps like an ordinary plasterboard. Knauf Safeboard Jointing Compound is used to fill joints to complete the radiation shield.
The Thermal Laminate range enables installers to both dryline and insulate a property in one operation, boosting the thermal performance of both walls and roofs and providing energy savings of up to £400 a year on the average dwelling. The range is ideal for conservation areas where the traditional building facade must be maintained and provides a simple means of meeting the Building Regulations on energy efficiency for new builds.
Knauf Brio Dry Floor Screed is a superb substrate for perfect floors in new build and refurbishment projects – whether residential or commercial. Warmfloor offers a dry floating floor screed solution that enhances the efficiency of under floor heating systems by allowing the user to run them at 6ºC lower for the same output.
The Knauf Brio AcousticFloor solution offers an instant upgrade in refurbishments projects and meets Building Regulations requirements for noise reductions.
Knauf FacadesKnauf Facades is a new division being previewed by Knauf, and one that specializes in complete 'through the wall' building facade systems. These offer a superb range of benefits, from flexibility of use to high levels of structural and thermal performance.
Knauf Facades will unveil its complete offer later in the year, but – briefly – the company and its exterior wall systems will provide architects and contractors with:
- design choice and flexibility;reduced wall thicknesses compared to traditional methods;
- a ‘One System Warranty’;
- rigorously tested and high levels of structural, thermal, fire and acoustic performance;
- immediate fire rating during construction;
- fast track construction;lightweight construction;
- a complete specification and technical support service;
- sustainable construction and sustainable buildings.
Knauf Drywall’s Stand N661 was given over to demonstrations; and the company put its Readymix Spray Plasters and Brio WarmFloor, AcousticFloor and BrioDec products through their paces.
The Readymix Plasters represent a rapid, cost-effective alternative to traditional plaster for finishing walls and ceilings. Purpose-designed for machine application on fast track building projects, a three-man gang can finish up to 1000m2 per week – while surfaces can be emulsioned within 24 to 48 hours. Further labour and time saving is afforded, as Readymix Plasters only require a mist and single coat when decorating!
