£3.5m THUNDERBIRD HOUSE A FAB SHOWCASE FOR KNAUF DRYWALL

A futuristic luxury home in Poole provides a stylish new setting for suspended ceilings featuring products and systems from Knauf Drywall.

Inspired by the dramatic lines of TV’s Tracy Island, the £3.5 million Thunderbird house occupies a prime site in Branksome Park, one of the UK’s most expensive addresses. It was designed and developed by the award-winning Dorset builder, Seven Developments.

Beneath its sweeping semi-circular mono-pitch roof, the house has flat ceilings, suspended on Knauf Drywall’s MF and C-Form I systems. Plastering subcontractor Bourntex used 12.5mm Knauf Plasterboard for ceilings in all rooms.

The Knauf MF Ceiling System is a traditional application, with boards fixed to a lightweight metal framework. The Knauf C-Form I Ceiling System uses fast drywall construction techniques and is designed for ceilings larger than 50sq.m, spans of more than 4m and ceiling voids deeper than 450mm.

Thunderbird is a 465sq.m structure with five en-suite bedrooms, extensive living and family rooms, a study and a space-age kitchen perfect for Lady Penelope. Fittings throughout are top-of-range. The house also has a fitted gymnasium, garaging for three cars, and a swimming pool in the landscaped grounds.

Seven Developments concentrates on homes in the luxury bracket – and frequently picks Knauf Drywall products for walls and ceilings.

“We have built 15 houses with Knauf Drywall products and there’s no reason to change,” says Dave Roberts, buyer for Seven Developments. “And we know that if we need it, Knauf Drywall’s Technical Service Team is always ready to help.”

Bourntex surveyor Kenneth Farrant says the quality of the Knauf Plasterboard and its ease of cutting facilitated the shaping of ceilings to fit the curved walls of Thunderbird’s rooms.
