KNAUF PUTTY PADS PROTECT DRYWALL SOCKETS – FAST

New Putty Pads from Knauf Drywall provide a fast, efficient solution for fire and acoustic protection of electrical socket boxes in drywall constructions. Knauf Putty Pads are sheets of intumescent, mouldable putty designed for use inside or outside plastic socket boxes.

Easy to install, and in two sizes to fit drywall double socket boxes, Knauf Putty Pads are suitable for use in all residential and commercial applications. With a fire rating of up to two hours in drywall and the ability to maintain an acoustic rating of up to 60dB Rw, the pads ensure that the safety and integrity of the drywall system are maintained. They avoid the need for traditional baffle boxes, which are time-consuming to build and fit.

The simplicity of Knauf Putty Pads improves installer productivity by achieving full protection of a box within two to three minutes – saving 25 minutes over traditional methods. To fit a pad inside a socket box – at first or second fix – simply remove the protective paper from one side, make a slit for the cable and pass the cable through the pad. Press the pad firmly into the socket box to ensure adhesion on all surfaces and mould into the corners. Finally, remove the second protective paper and trim any excess putty.

Alternatively, at first fix more time can be saved by using the larger Knauf Putty Pad on the back of the box. Just press a pad firmly to the box, carefully moulding the pad to the sides and the surrounding plasterboard.

Knauf Putty Pads are 3.5mm thick and are supplied in boxes of 20. They are available in 180 x 130mm and 230 x 230mm sizes and have easy-peel paper on both sides.
