Plastic recycling services 'to expand'
2010-07-29
Plastic recycling services in the UK are set to grow as one company reveals plans to build a string of plastic treatment plants across the nation. Closed Loop Recycling has engaged advisers to provide guidance on securing funding for the eco-friendly project, which will get under way with the construction of a facility in Deeside, north Wales.
At a projected cost of £30 million, the group is hoping to add to its existing processing factory in Dagenham near London.
This location has the capacity to deal with 35,000 tonnes of waste - mainly from drinking bottles - and turns the material back into material to be used for packaging food.
Chris Dow, managing director of the group, claimed demand was sufficient for the recycling development.
He commented: "All we need now are the right incentives from government to support our industry further, develop the next generation of low-carbon jobs and make the positive changes for the environment we are striving for."
