Caernarfon plans a new gym worth £750,000

A new fitness centre worth £750,000 may be built in Caernarfon, north Wales, if the plans proposed by a local construction firm are accepted.

Air-purification qualities offered by drywall might be perfect for gyms, as the smell-free material reduces the build-up of odours and impurities to create a more pleasant environment for fitness fans.

DailyPost.co.uk reports the development could create 35 jobs in the area, but some locals fear the new business may jeopardise existing commercial enterprises, such as hotels with fitness centres.

C and G Bee Construction owner Gwilym Bee told the publication of his long-standing interest in fitness, claiming: "I saw a gap for leisure facilities [in the area] to complement what's already here."

He spoke of his hope to design something "unique" and prevent the loss of trade to nearby urban centre Bangor.

This concern may also be shared by local authorities, as the Welsh Assembly unveiled new planning guidelines last week aimed to halt the demographic shift away from the nation's rural areas. ADNFCR-8000206-ID-19909156-ADNFCR
