Network Rail unveils major new project

Network Rail yesterday (July 20th) announced it is building a £120 million development in Milton Keynes.The company's new central office is set to incorporate green building techniques in order to improve the environmental performance of the 400,000 sq ft structure.
Among the adaptations, natural ventilation and optimised orientation will contribute to the project's low-carbon footprint, while a living roof will provide a favourable environment for native plants and animals.
Chief executive Iain Coucher commented: "Once completed, the new national centre will unite many of our national teams and functions helping us to work more effectively together in meeting the challenges of delivering a better, more efficient railway for passengers and freight.
Recycled material from current site occupier the National Hockey Stadium will also be used, which is in line with Network Rail's green corporate policy of reducing the ecological impact of its work and structural assets.
