Using mould-resistant drywall can help to control the spread of mould within a home. While moisture control is an important step to take in the control of mould in the home, using products like mould-resistant drywall can help to stop the growth of the fungus, an article by Heidi Hall of the Mother Nature Network states.
Listing a number of ways in which homeowners can take steps to prevent the spread of mould, the article noted that those who are renovating a property should consider using mould-resistant drywall to help control any problems.
"Moisture-resistant drywall is especially valuable in areas prone to wetness, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements and kitchens," the article stated.
Proper ventilation can help to prevent the build-up of moisture within a home, and taking steps to improve airflow and to measure indoor humidity levels can also help in controlling the effects mould can have on the home, the article said.
Drywall can be used in new homes as well as older properties requiring updating or refurbishment.
