"The construction industry may not be known for being the most environmentally sustainable industry in the world, but it has an important part to play in all our lives and those of our future generations," he told the Green Building Press.
He added: "Our natural energy resources may be finite but I think what we witness here today at Interbuild shows that our commitment to sustainability is undiminished."
According to David Richards who is project managing an Eco House being shown in The Village area, it is ready for "real life application".
The design, which is aiming to achieve level five of the Code for Sustainable Homes, is to be used at a private development in Devon.
